make. wear. love. fall sweater retreat

Knitters make magic at the make. wear. love. retreats. These intimate weekends in gorgeous locales steep you in sweater inspiration. We laugh, we eat great food, we knit great yarn…

…and if you join us, you’ll learn from amazing instructors who help you think about your making in a new way. There are no strangers – just new friends. By the end of the weekend, you’ll be energized. Inspired. Ready to tackle anything.

The dates for the final fall make. wear. love. retreat are September 12-15, 2019. Download a brochure by clicking here.

Registration is now closed. Please email me at [email protected] if you’d like to be placed on the waitlist. Let me know if you’d like to be a student (and if so which teachers), a wayfarer, or if you’d like the next available spot whatever it is.

Who

For our last year, I’ll be joined by another ever-amazing group of teachers: Fiona Ellis, Jillian Moreno, Kate Atherley, Patty Lyons, Kim McBrien Evans, Debbi Stone, and Stephanie Pearl-McPhee:

Together, we’ll form your sweater guides for the weekend. We’ll knit, we’ll learn, we’ll munch, and we’ll ooh and ahh over our surroundings (both the landscape and the knitwear!).

What

Here are the key details of your weekend in brief:

There are two options for attendance: Students spend the mornings in formal classes, while wayfarers have a slower start and shorter, optional, informal morning sessions. Students will choose instructors during registration – you’ll get classes with three of the four student instructors. Wayfarers get an informal session with each of the 3 wayfarer instructors.

Everyone gathers together for lunch, and then the afternoon is a mix of shorter talkseat dinner together before a variety of evening events:

  • On Thursday night, we’ll have a welcome gala with munchies, icebreakers, everything you need to know about the weekend, and a special talk by Fiona Ellis;
  • On Friday night, we’ll have our usual fashion show and dessert party, emceed by our very favorite Patty Lyons;
  • On Saturday afternoon and evening, we’ll have a mix of talks and our marketplace, with special retreat designs in each vendor’s yarn;
  • On Sunday, after our morning sessions we’ll gather for our usual lobster bake send-off, as well as story time with Stephanie Pearl-McPhee.

Like last year’s retreat, I’ve built in some free time this year. As we get closer to the event, I’ll offer optional organized activities to explore our beautiful surroundings, for those who wish. Of course, as at all past retreats, this year’s make. wear. love. fall retreat will be full of the same inspiration, design, and craft you’ve come to love (or heard so much about).

You can find a schedule, and all of the details, in the brochure.

Where

My make. wear. love. retreats definitely take on the character of their locations. So the fall retreats on the coast of Maine are casual, friendly, and utterly delicious. We spend the weekend smiling – and how could we not, when our views look like this?

This fall will mark the 7th anniversary of my make. wear. love. sweater retreats (can you believe it?!), and will be the final year of the retreat. To close out make. wear. love., we’re returning once more to the beautiful Sebasco Harbor Resort.

Sebasco is one of the few remaining family-owned resorts in Maine, and it gives us stunning vistas, tons of great places to curl up with a few friends and knit, and lots of lodging options – all in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere. We’ve had such a wonderful time there for the last four years, and they’re so excited to have us back again. (They’ve fallen in love with The Knitters, who can blame them!?)

How

Registration is now closed. Please email me at [email protected] if you’d like to be placed on the waitlist. Let me know if you’d like to be a student (and if so which teachers), a wayfarer, or if you’d like the next available spot whatever it is.

Please have your choices made before registering.

The cost of the fall 2019 retreat is $995 for students, and $845 for wayfarers. This includes:

  • All lectures and mini-classes,
  • All evening events and access to the marketplace,
  • A goodie bag complete with the 3 exclusive retreat designs,
  • All meals, noshes, and a glass of wine each evening.

(All situated within 3 utterly fantastic days in one of the most gorgeous places on earth.) Once accepted, attendees are responsible for arranging their own lodging with Sebasco due to the breadth of room types: from budget-friendly to luxurious, cabins or single rooms or rooms to share, there are definitely lots of options! For planning purposes, single room rates range from around $110-$300 per night, depending on how fancy you’d like to get; there are definitely options to share as well.

Please note that the rooms are on hold, and not reservable, until acceptances are sent out. With your acceptance, you’ll get a room information sheet and instructions for signing up.

After registration, I’ll confirm your attendance via email within a week. (I wait until I’ve scheduled all of the classes before sending out acceptances, so that you’ll know exactly what you’ll be doing.)

I’ll include room sign-up information at that time, as well. A non-refundable $250 deposit is due upon acceptance to hold your spot; your remaining balance will be due June 30.

The make. wear. love. retreats have been so incredibly special to me. I can’t wait for you to join us for the final one.
