Description
The Reservoir Cardigan is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Reservoir and instructions on how to create it.
Who doesn’t love an open cardigan? They’re comfortable, easy to put on and off, and work with a wide variety of styles. Reservoir is shown here in a yarn with terrific drape, long set-in sleeves, and an hourglass silhouette – but as part of CustomFit’s “Basics” line, you can make yours look however you’d like.
Reservoir’s edges are trimmed with a simple 2×2 rib, and it’s available in all of CustomFit’s constructions, silhouettes, lengths, and fits.
Sizing
Reservoir is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Amy with set-in sleeves and in an “hourglass average fit” with an hourglass silhouette. It’s available with other constructions, silhouettes, and fits as well. I don’t recommend going too oversized with an open cardigan, though – they tend to be unstable at very roomy fits.
Gauge
Your own customized version of the Reservoir pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design works well at any gauge.
Materials
I used Classic Elite Firefly, which has now been discontinued, for the sample shown. I used the color “Bark”. Firefly is a pretty special linen and viscose blend that you can still find here and there, and it’s one of my favorite warmer-weather yarns.
For other yarns, CustomFit will give you a yardage estimate before you finalize a custom pattern, but you can also use Hannah Fettig’s Stashbot app or pamphlet to estimate yarn requirements when purchasing yarn.
Construction
Reservoir is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in or modified drop shoulder sleeves.
