Schooner

$9.99

Schooner is part of my “CustomFit Basics” series – a collection of simple sweaters in classic silhouettes that work well in just about any yarn you throw at them. This basic V-neck vest is shown in a lightweight summer linen and a relaxed fit – but it would also look fabulous in a aran-weight wool for a warm winter layer, a fingering merino-cashmere for a luxurious bit of layering, an a-line wool-silk tunic, or… you get the idea.

The design features 1×1 ribbed trim, a narrow v-neckline, and more ribbing on the armholes. It's available in a-line, hourglass, straight, and tapered silhouettes, and fits for men, women, and children.

Please note that Schooner is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you'll receive a credit for a custom version of Schooner and instructions on how to create it.

Sizing

Schooner is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Amy in an “hourglass relaxed fit” with an hourglass silhouette.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Schooner pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design works well in nearly any yarn and gauge.

Materials

I used Shibui Linen, which has now been discontinued, for the sample shown. Their new fingering-weight linen, Reed, would make a great alternative. I used the color “Grounds”.

Construction

Schooner is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in sleeves.
