We interrupt this knitting for apples.

Run, don’t walk, to your local grocery store and purchase the ingredients for this.

Even without the glaze, it is the most moist, scrumptious, spiced, wonderful thing I have eaten in months. Plus, I got to use my weirdo Yankee apple contraption–and how cool is that, really?

(Jacob thought it was pretty cool.)

Well. Just had to get that off my chest. Pigging out on coffee cake is much more fun with company, you know.

I was reading a certain blog yesterday, and noted a certain resolution to knit a pair of socks per month this year. Now, I’d be far from sock-yarn-stashless even if I knit twice that amount, but it seemed like a good idea to try and knock off a pair of socks each month this year anyway. Just think! A year from now, I’ll have 12 more pairs to combat this chilly, chilly house.

Of course, that leaves me with only 6 more days to finish the Pomatomi.

Surely I can manage that, though, right? Especially if I stop eating coffeecake long enough to knit a little each day?

  1. Say, that’s a good idea. Of course, in my case it would have to be COMPLETING one pair per month, since I’ve got a few singles backlogged…

At any rate, your pomatomi are looking even more scrumptious than your coffeecake. MMMM.

  2. Those socks look seriously amazing! It’s a great goal to knit a pair a month– you should do it šŸ™‚

  3. ohhh, sock yarn doesn’t count as stash anyway šŸ™‚
looking forward to seeing 12 pairs of socks this year!

  4. Thanks for the super-delicious cake idea…and the Pomatomi is the only sock pattern that is even slightly interesting to me right now!

  5. Amy, with socks that color, I’d be knitting them non-stop. There has to be some table in the house where you can sit on the floor, nose level with the plate, right? Hands free eating!

  6. They should use your picture for the recipie page–yours looks WAY more appetizing in my opinion. Beautiful socks.

  7. oh, yum! too bad i had a wisdom tooth pulled yesterday. i bet that would still taste good pureed!

i look forward to seeing your 12 pairs this year. those gorgeous poms are going to make an excellent first!

  8. I love Williams Sonoma recipes, well actually anything they do! LOL You’re socks are gorgeous! One pair per month, I might just be joining you guys on that one. šŸ˜‰

  9. you can do it!

    ps. that recipe looks great

  10. The Cake looks absolutely delicious, even better than the glazed one on the Williams Sonoma page. I bookmarked the recipe. And your Pomatomi are looking gorgeous. I can`t wait to see all the other pairs this year.

  11. You can totally finish that sock by the end of the month! The coffee cake looks outrageously wonderful. I can see how it would be a strong temptation not to knit. You’ll just have to finish it up as fast as possible so you can get back to the sock. šŸ˜‰

  12. Thanks for the recipe link. That coffee cake looks amazing!

  13. I thoroughly enjoy your blog; thank you so much for sharing it with us. Your knitting is always so beautiful and inspiring. And I second the vote for W-S using your coffee cake picture!

  14. That cranberry Pomatomus is so gorgeous… Also, you make my day!

  15. Piece of (coffee) cake! I bet if you put your mind to it, you could do TWO socks in six days, and you only have like half a sock to go.

Ellen’s getting Madelinetosh in the store! I can’t wait!

  16. Fabulous pomatomi! You can do it by month’s end. Who really needs sleep after all. I like this sock pair a month idea. I need more socks. Although, like you, I will be far from stashless. You and Kelp are setting a high bar in the beautiful sock department.

  17. I LOVE the colour of your Pomatomi! I wonder if I have anything quite like it in my stash…

I’m trying to knit a pair of socks a month all this year too. I’m a repeat or two into my second Monkey sock and wonder if I can make it by the end of the week!!! Hope so! I’m sure you can too. šŸ™‚

  18. mmmm – that recipe is getting printed. Apples and coffee cake – what a combo!

I want to join the sock pledge also (or at least use a skein of sock yarn a month – I’d like to do mitts also!) I want my sock yarn stash to deplete!

The poms are looking great so far – that color is beautiful!

  19. If I somehow managed to finish a sock in a week last semester while still attending classes, I’m sure that you and your magnificent sock-knitting skills can do it too! I really love that sock yarn, it is gorgeous!

  20. I’ve been tempted to set up some sock-knitting schedule, and I’ve resisted. In the knitting arena, I like to take the time I need to let a project develop. In the real world, the deadlines are problems enough. So my advice is keep knitting your Pomatomus socks so they’re the pair you’ll be happy with. And they’re looking great. The knitting is beautiful and the yarn color is super.

  21. Hiya! This looks so yummy. You make my day – left you a little something on my blog. šŸ™‚

  22. “Iā€™d be far from sock-yarn-stashless even if I knit twice that amount” – oh my gosh, really? you lucky lucky woman!
i’m loving the pomatomi and i gotta say that your progress pics have changed my mind about the pattern – when i first saw it, i liked it but not enough to queue, but now im starting to reconsider that…

and thanks for the coffee cake recipe! hubby and i have been yearning for some homemade dessert and that might be just what the doctor ordered (sigh, i really did not intend on making the whole apple-doctor connection).

  23. The apple cake is wonderful. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

  24. The cake looks yummy! And the sock a month idea isn’t a bad one either. If I could just get my mojo going…

  25. Yay! The red socks are happening! So pretty.

  26. I just made this cake per your recommendation. It’s FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. Mine isn’t glazed either, but who cares? It’s sooo good.

  27. Mmmm, I think I need my own slab of deliciousness!

And yay, you’re joining me on the sock-a-month-athon. I suppose this makes it a movement, huh? Perhaps the people should organize on flickr or something, hmmm…

  28. Oh, yummm! And good luck with the sock knitting!

  29. Those red socks are glamerous, scrumptious, fantastic,,,,,,,,,,,,
and you look soooooooooooooo great in your pregnant picture
    love

  31. […] the start of the year, I hopped onto this crazy idea to knit a pair of socks each month. Kelp did a great job (seriously, click through the link–you’ll be amazed), but I […]
