Birthday weeks are the best weeks

Thank you SO much, everyone, for commenting on my last post! Reading your stories while I was at TNNA was just the best birthday present ever. The contest is closed, and email has gone out to Joan, Vicki, Cheryl, Cassy, Helen, and Julie about their prizes. In fact, that was fun enough that I think I’ll need to figure out ways to incorporate more contests into my posts.

TNNA was amazing, as usual. Particularly since I have a full-time day job, the chance to do nothing other than live and breathe my design work for a few days is rare and wonderful. Set that time amongst all of the gorgeous new yarns and the amazing collection of people, throw in some tater-tot nachos (“totchos”!) and a few moscow mules… …well, it’s pretty much heaven, is what I’m saying.

I picked up swatching yarn, a couple of new Namaste handbags, and this incredible new product from Soak:

I’m sure you’ve heard about the Soakboxes by now, since they’ve been all over the internet, but can I just add my own glowing review? Super-fantastic Lorna’s Laces yarn, the original Soak wash, their new handmaid hand cream, and Essie nail polish–all color coordinated, with an adorable mitt pattern for the yarn. Amazing. My nails are teal right now, and I’m loving it!

TNNA was also a productive time for me. The first Caulfield sample is done and blocking:

I got to gush at length to Kim about her yarn, which was super nice. I’ve cast on for the second sample, also in Kim’s yarn, which I’m also loving…

…but I’m also swatching for the veritable fountain of ideas I had at TNNA. The first up for swatches is another collaboration with Kirsten. I can hardly wait to tell you about it! But since we can’t spill the beans just yet, here’s some playing around with cables that I’ve been doing in lovely Harrisville tweed.

Settling back into a normal routine after such an intense, creativity-provoking weekend is proving difficult, but how unhappy can I be when I have all of these exciting ideas to play with?
