Please note that Catboat is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Catboat and instructions on how to create it.
Catboat is one of the most basic, variation-friendly sweater silhouettes out there: A cozy turtleneck that looks great in any yarn and keeps you warm on the chilliest days. I’ve shown it here in a super-neutral wool-cotton blend, but this design is incredibly versatile. In lighter weight yarn, it layers like a dream – in heavier-weight yarn, it looks great on its own. Even better? It’s now available in both drop shoulder and set-in sleeve constructions.
Beth is wearing a long sleeve, average-length version in an hourglass silhouette and set-in sleeve construction. Ronny is wearing a long-sleeve, long-length version in a straight silhouette and drop shoulder construction. The design itself is unisex, and is available in all of CustomFit’s silhouettes and constructions, and all of its fits, for men, women, and children.
Catboat is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Beth in an “hourglass close fit” with an hourglass silhouette and set-in sleeve construction. On Ronny it’s shown in a “women’s relaxed fit”, straight silhouette, and drop shoulder construction. It’s also available with a straight, tapered, or a-line silhouette and all of CustomFit’s “fit” options for men, women, and children.
Your own customized version of the Catboat pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design works well at any gauge.
I used Rowan’s Wool Cotton, which has now been discontinued, for the sample shown. Never fear, though – this design works well in just about any yarn you can find.
Catboat is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with either drop shoulder or set-in sleeves.
