Cove Vest

Give your favorite fleece a serious upgrade by making one that fits you perfectly, out of a yarn you absolutely adore. Cove is a simple cardigan vest that features a warm mock turtleneck, plenty of buttons, and 2×2 ribbed trim except on the armholes, which get discreet applied i-cord.

With a low hip length and relaxed fit as shown here, you’re ready for an utterly cozy day – but since Cove is available in any combination of fit and silhouette you like, you can make one that suits your wardrobe perfectly!

Sizing

Cove is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Beth in an “hourglass relaxed fit” with an hourglass silhouette, but is available in all of CustomFit’s other silhouettes and fit as well – for men, women, and kids.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Cove pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design works well at any gauge.

Materials

I used the super-soft Rowan Brushed Fleece, in color “Tarn”, for this sample. I think it makes a great hand-knitted version of the fleece vest that so many people like to toss on when the weather gets chilly.

The silhouette is extremely flexible, though, and this vest would look great in just about any other yarn you’d care to use, as well. My only recommendation would be to avoid anything with excessive drape so that the button band doesn’t sag.

Construction

Cove is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in sleeves.
