Description
The Farmington Pullover is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Farmington on your CustomFit patterns page and instructions on how to create it.
The Farmington Pullover is a comfortable A-line pullover with a flattering boat neckline and an easy season-spanning style. As shown, it combines 3/4 sleeves, a long length, and a relaxed or oversized fit with set-in sleeves. But like most CustomFit patterns, Farmington is available in any silhouette, fit, and sleeve length combination you like. It’s also available in CustomFit’s new modified drop shoulder construction. Whatever choices you make, Farmington makes a great backdrop for some stunning yarn.
I’ve shown it here in Fuse Fiber Studio Fuse Fingering, a lusciously-soft 100% merino yarn dyed close to my home here in Connecticut. I love this base, which combines just the right amount of softness, stitch definition, and stability.

Sizing
Farmington is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here with set-in sleeves and an a-line silhouette, on Maya in a women’s relaxed fit, and on Josephine in a women’s oversized fit.
Farmington is also available in the drop shoulder construction and in hourglass, straight, and tapered silhouettes, and fits for men, women, and children.
Gauge
Your own customized version of the Farmington pattern will be written to your exact gauge, whatever it may be. Any weight yarn will work well with this design, and you should swatch in Stockinette stitch.
(But if you’re curious, I liked the fabric of the Fuse Fingering at 7.5 stitches to the inch.)
Materials
I used Fuse Fiber Studio Fuse Fingering for this design, in the color “Moorland”. I used a US size 2 (2.75mm) needle to get 7.5 stitches and 10.25 rows per inch, but your mileage may vary.
At this gauge, to make a long a-line sweater as shown here, a standard size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm a-line tunic will use approximately 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) hanks. (Straight-sided and shorter sweaters will use less yarn!)
For other yarns, CustomFit will give you a yardage estimate before you finalize a custom pattern, but you can also use Hannah Fettig’s Stashbot app or pamphlet to estimate yarn requirements when purchasing yarn.
Construction
Farmington is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in sleeves or modified drop shoulder sleeves.
