Firth Pullover

$9.99

A basic V-neck sweater ranks at the top of most people’s wardrobe staples. And with CustomFit, yours can suit you perfectly. Firth has a moderately deep neckline, 1×1 ribbed edgings, and looks great in just about any yarn, in any gauge you’d care to knit. You can choose from any of CustomFit’s constructions, fits, silhouettes, sleeve lengths, and sweater lengths. It looks great in just about any yarn, in any gauge you’d care to knit.

Shown here in two very different fabrics (a traditional worsted wool and a lighter-than-air silk-wrapped merino), the Firth design can give you an incredible amount of variety and flexibility. It’s a great unisex silhouette that is a perfect match for any yarn you happen to fall in love with.

Please note that Firth is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Alight and instructions on how to create it.

A basic V-neck sweater ranks at the top of most people’s wardrobe staples. And with CustomFit, yours can suit you perfectly. Firth has a moderately deep neckline, 1×1 ribbed edgings, and is available in about a billion varieties. You can choose from any of CustomFit’s constructions, fits, silhouettes, sleeve lengths, and sweater lengths. It looks great in just about any yarn, in any gauge you’d care to knit.

Sizing

Firth is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s available in any combination of CustomFit’s constructions, silhouettes, lengths, and fits for men, women, and children.

Lauren is shown in a set-in sleeve “hourglass relaxed” fit in Quince and Co Lark‘s color “Iceland”; she’s chosen an average sweater length and long sleeves, with an hourglass silhouette.

Amy is shown in a set-in sleeve “women’s average fit” in Habu Textiles N80 Wrapped Merino 4p in color Green; she’s chosen a tunic sweater length, long sleeves, and an a-line silhouette.

Maya is shown in a modified drop-shoulder “women’s close fit” in a now-discontinued alpaca silk yarn in light gray; she’s wearing a long sweater length, long sleeves, and a half-hourglass silhouette.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Firth pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design works well at any gauge.

Materials

Lauren’s sample was knit in Quince and Co Lark, an all-American 100% wool that’s soft, sustainable, and that comes in a variety of great colors. I used the color “Iceland”, at a gauge of approximately 5 stitches per inch. For a standard size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm bust at the same gauge, you’ll need approximately 6 (7, 8, 8. 9, 9, 10, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18) hanks of Lark.

Amy’s sample was knit in Habu Textiles N80 Wrapped Merino 4p in color “Green”; I liked a gauge of approximately 6.5 stitches per inch. For a standard size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm bust at the same gauge (and the same length/silhouette options), you’ll need approximately 7 (8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 14, 15) cones of the Habu.

For other yarns, CustomFit will give you a yardage estimate before you finalize a custom pattern, but you can also use Hannah Fettig’s Stashbot app or pamphlet to estimate yarn requirements when purchasing yarn.

Construction

Firth is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in or modified drop shoulder sleeves.
