Helm is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Helm and instructions on how to create it.
Everyone needs a basic V-neck pullover, and this classic features a slightly higher V-neckline that works well for men, children, and any more menswear-focused style. It looks great at any gauge, and in any silhouette. (This design also makes a great blank slate if you’d like to work your sweater in an overall stitch pattern. Just swatch in pattern and enter your patterned gauge.)
The V-neckline is, by default, 6.5” below the shoulders (not inclusive of trim). You can adjust the neck depth, if you like, when customizing your pattern. Simple 2×2 ribbing trims all edges.
Helm is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. Jay is wearing the sample sweater with set in sleeves, a men’s average fit, and a straight silhouette, but you can make Helm in any of CustomFit’s silhouettes or fits and the modified drop shoulder construction as well.
Your own customized version of the Helm pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design looks great at any gauge, from fingering to bulky.
Helm is a great basic sweater, and I used a great basic yarn for the sample – Rowan’s Pure Wool Superwash DK. Jay is wearing the color “Anthracite”.
For other yarns, CustomFit will give you a yardage estimate before you finalize a custom pattern, but you can also use Hannah Fettig’s Stashbot app or pamphlet to estimate yarn requirements when purchasing yarn.
Helm is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in or modified drop shoulder sleeves.
