Hidden Ridge

Description

Please note that Hidden Ridge is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Hidden Ridge and instructions on how to create it.

Hidden Ridge is a cowl-neck pullover with gentle waist shaping and a cabled front. The single 12-stitch cable blends directly into the Stockinette stitch of the rest of the garment, creating a very subtle look especially when paired with Rowan’s beautiful-and-fuzzy Fazed Tweed yarn.

Please note that Hidden Ridge is an intermediate-level pattern and should not be your very first CustomFit sweater. Because every CustomFit pattern has a different stitch count, you will need to do some basic stitch pattern placement, on your own, to ensure the ribbing lines up correctly with the cable. CustomFit will automatically adjust the stitch count of the front to compensate for the cable’s width-wise shrinkage. This sweater’s waist shaping is located on the back of the sweater only, for a relaxed look.

Sizing

Hidden Ridge is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Beth in an “hourglass average fit” with an hourglass silhouette, but is available with a straight silhouette and other fits as well.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Hidden Ridge pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. I recommend something aran weight or even a little heavier, to ensure the center cable retains its scale in the garment.

Materials

This sample is worked in Rowan Yarns Fazed Tweed, now discontinued, in the color “Ebony”. I love the fuzzy, high-contrast look of the the stitches, due to Fazed Tweed’s unusual tube construction. Blue Sky Alpacas Techno would make a faithful substitution; a tweed yarn would also make a great match for the look of this garment.

Construction

Hidden Ridge is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in sleeves.
