Description

Nantasket is an easy-breezy little vest for summertime, layering time, or any time. Worked with a simple lace edging, out of Classic Elite Firefly (one of my favorite non-wools), Nantasket is both understated and super-wearable.

The simple lace trim is a great introduction to stitch patterning, the stockinette portions are a snap to modify, and it’s done in a flash. Nantasket is versatile, drapey, a great layering piece, and fits in everywhere: on the beach, in the office, or having warm-evening drinks on the patio. And, like all of my patterns, it’s designed to be easy to modify. So it’ll fit you perfectly, too.

Classic Elite’s Firefly is a stunningly drapey, soft, silky blend of viscose and linen. It’s comfortable to work with, produces a beautiful and interesting fabric, and is lightweight enough even for summertime walks on the beach. Should you decide to substitute yarn, I would suggest a fiber selection with a good amount of drape and movement. You’ll need approximately 647 (714, 759, 828, 903, 977, 1054, 1126, 1193, 1276, 1342, 1491) yds/593 (654, 695, 759, 827, 895, 965, 1032, 1093, 1169, 1229, 1366) m.

Sizing

29½ (31¾, 32¾, 35, 37, 39¼, 41½, 43¾, 44¾, 47, 49, 53½)”/75 (80.5, 83, 89, 94, 99.5, 105.5, 111, 113.5, 119.5, 124.5, 136) cm

Intended to be worn with 1-2’’/2.5-5cm ease in the upper torso.

Gauge

22 sts and 30 rows = 4″/10 cm in stockinette stitch

Materials:

Classic Elite Yarns Firefly [75% viscose; 25% linen]: 155 yds/142 m per 50g ball, shown in color 7706 (cardigan): 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10) balls.

Construction:

The tank is constructed in pieces and then seamed, with edgings picked up and knit after seaming. This stabilizes the linen but if you’re using a sturdier yarn, it could be knit in one piece to the armholes and then flat.
