Shore Ledges

Description

Shore Ledges is a fun, slightly-nautical take on a classic V-neck pullover. The deep, wide V-neck is balanced out by long, belled sleeves, and the sweater can be made whatever length you like thanks to CustomFit. Crisp seed stitch trims everything but the hem, and the neckline includes a fun tie detail.

I designed Shore Ledges for my very first make. wear. love. sweater retreat in 2013, from vendor Indigodragonfly’s Merino Silk DK. It takes full advantage of all the sheen and drape in this lovely yarn, which allows the sweater to dress up or stay casual depending on what you pair it with. Years later, this is still one of the most popular sweaters in my traveling sweater suitcase.

Sizing

Shore Ledges is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Amy in an “hourglass average fit” with an hourglass silhouette, but is available with a straight silhouette and other fits as well.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Shore Ledges pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design works well in a variety of gauges, but please choose a wool-silk blend to achieve a similar drape.

Materials

I used Indigodragonfly Merino Silk DK, in the color “The Raine in Maine Feigns Trading Pain for Skeins”, for this sweater.

To make a standard-size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm sweater, you’ll need approximately 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9) hanks for this design.

Construction

Shore Ledges is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in sleeves.
