Triangled

$12.50

Triangled actually started out life when I decided to knit myself a copy of my “Squared” cardigan design, from my first book “Knit to Flatter”. Except, I don’t like square necks, so I changed it to a V. And then I decided to make it a little longer. And then added long sleeves. And then, with a cabled check button band and neck trim instead of rolled stockinette. Pretty soon, my version – which I adore, and wear regularly even years later – looked nothing like the original. I nicknamed it “Triangled”, a riff on Squared’s neckline-focused name.

Fast-forward, and Triangled is one of the most-loved samples in my infamous sweater sample suitcase. Now, thanks to CustomFit, you can make your own. Triangled is designed with an average sweater length, tapered long sleeves, and an average-width, deep V neckline. All edges are trimmed with the cabled check pattern, which blends a subtly-shaded or tonal hand-dyed yarn. You can make it in the construction, fit, and silhouette of your choice, for men, women, and children.

Please note: Triangled is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Triangled and instructions on how to create it.

Description

The Triangled cardigan is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Triangled and instructions on how to create it.

Sizing

Triangled is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. I’m wearing it here in an “hourglass relaxed fit” with set-in sleeves and an hourglass silhouette, but it’s also available in other construction, silhouette, length, and fit choices for men, women, or children.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Triangled pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. The design looks great at a variety of gauges.

Materials

I used Socks that Rock Heavyweight, in the color “Porcini”, for this design. Semi-solid or tonal yarns look great in this simple shape and the cabled check stitch pattern.

To make a standard-size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm sweater, you’ll need approximately 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6) hanks for this design.

For other yarns, CustomFit will give you a yardage estimate before you finalize a custom pattern, but you can also use Hannah Fettig’s Stashbot app or pamphlet to estimate yarn requirements when purchasing yarn.

Construction

Triangled is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in or modified drop shoulder sleeves.
