Tidal Pool

Description

Tidal Pool is an updated take on a classic gansey sweater, with a clean silhouette and slight a-line shaping. The scoop neck, sleeves, and hem are trimmed with small amounts of 2×2 ribbing, and textured stitch patterning decorates the top of both the front and back of the garment. 3/4 sleeves and a sport-weight yarn make this sweater comfortable in several seasons. I designed it for my fall 2016 make. wear. love. retreat, which is held on the coast of Maine where I grew up – and it reflects the classic, unfussy style I grew up seeing there.

You can buy the Tidal Pool Pullover in one of two ways:

• A traditional pattern PDF, for $8, written in an a-line shape, a single gauge, and for 12 standard sizes. A download will be immediately available.
• A custom Tidal Pool pattern, for $12.50, written to your exact gauge (from fingering to bulky) and to measurements of your choice. A credit to customize this pattern will be immediately deposited into your account upon purchase. You’ll need to store the gauge and measurements you’d like the pattern written for before customizing.

Sizing

The traditional pattern you can purchase for $8 comes in the following sizes: 30 (31¼, 34, 35¼, 38, 39¼, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62)”/76 (79.5, 86.5, 89.5, 96.5, 100, 106.5, 117, 127, 137, 147.5, 157.5) cm

The CustomFit version of Tidal Pool will be created specifically to your choice of measurements, fit, and silhouette.

Gauge

For the traditional pattern, 24 sts and 36 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch. CustomFit patterns will be written to your specific gauge.

The result is an incredibly soft, beautifully colored product that you can feel amazing about purchasing. Cheeky Merino Joy, in particular, offers exquisitely-sharp stitch definition and a magnificent hand. It comes in a wide variety of sophisticated colors, and I highly recommend it for this sweater. Construction

However you create your Tidal Pool, you’ll work the garment in pieces from the bottom up seam it for a tailored look. The garment features set-in sleeves and side-seam shaping for the a-line silhouette in the traditional pattern. CustomFit Tidal Pools can be created with either set-in sleeve or drop-shoulder constructions with a variety of shaping options.
