Description
The Mansfield Cowl is worked in the round in a deeply textured rib and welt pattern stitch. There’s a few rounds of stockinette at top and bottom for a rolled edge, which echoes the main pattern.
CustomFit lets you create a Mansfield cowl pattern specific to your gauge, in your choice of four different heights and four different circumferences.
The sample is worked in a bulky yarn at a fairly tight gauge, at the shortest height and smallest circumference. Wear it dramatically over your coat collar, or tuck it in – either way, you can snuggle in! This design also works very well at longer lengths – the pattern stitch looks just as good on the wrong side, making it perfect for looping and wrapping.
Sizing
Since Mansfield is a custom pattern available via CustomFit, you can make it in any combination of four circumferences and four heights, or to your exact measurement specifications.
Gauge as shown
12 stitches and 20 rounds to 4” (10 cm) in Welt and Rib Pattern in the shown yarn.
Materials
Kate used the beautiful bulky weight Yana Journeys by Amano Yarns, in color 1605, Arequipa. Sample shown, using the short height and small circumference options, used 1 hank.
Construction
Mansfield is worked in one piece in the round. It can be worn both in a single loop, or doubled around the neck, depending on the size you choose.
