Options KAL Cardigan

Description

The Options KAL Cardigan is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a credit for a custom version of Options and instructions on how to create it.

I’m well-known for encouraging knitters to make every garment their own, changing the original design if necessary. Providing a bunch of options at the outset was the goal of my fall 2015 “Rowan Options KAL”, using their workhorse Pure Wool Superwash DK yarn.

Now, the Options KAL designs are available via CustomFit – which means that your pattern will be written to your exact gauge and measurement desires. Your CustomFit pattern will be written for a basic Stockinette sweater with the shape you’ve chosen – what kind of fabric you make the pieces out of is totally up to you. The cardigan here is shown striped on the body only; in addition to the stripe sequence, a simple texture is also provided.

Sizing

The Options KAL Cardigan is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Amy in an “hourglass average fit” with an hourglass silhouette, but is available with a straight silhouette and other fits as well.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Options KAL pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. This design will work well at any gauge.

Materials

I used Pure Wool Superwash DK to make the sample shown here.

To make a standard-size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm sweater with strips as shown here, you’ll need approximately

• 745 (795, 875, 930, 1015, 1070, 1160, 1220, 1325, 1415, 1475, 1600) yards of MC;
• 90 (95, 105, 110, 120, 125, 140, 145, 160, 170, 175, 190) yards of CC1; and
• 45 (50, 55, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95) yards of CC2.

Construction

The Options KAL Cardigan is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in sleeves.
