Charlie’s Cardigan

$12.50

Charlie's Cardigan is a kinda-sporty, kinda-preppy crew neck cardigan that slips quietly into wardrobe heavy rotation. It looks good with button-downs and a skirt, and is equally at home with a long-sleeved T and your favorite pair of jeans. Its lace chevron pattern is interesting to knit and looks great, but isn't so eye-catching that your whole outfit has to be about the sweater.

The sample is shown in Swans Island All-American Worsted, a stunning, soft, lofty worsted-weight woolen-spun yarn. It looks and feels incredible, and I strongly recommend it for this sweater. I used the color “Granite”.

Please note that Charlie's Cardigan is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern via my CustomFit custom pattern generator. Upon purchase, you'll receive a credit for a custom version of Charlie's Cardigan and instructions on how to create it.

Charlie’s Cardigan is a kinda-sporty, kinda-preppy crew neck cardigan that slips quietly into wardrobe heavy rotation. It looks good with button-downs and a skirt, and is equally at home with a long-sleeved T and your favorite pair of jeans. Its lace chevron pattern is interesting to knit and looks great, but isn’t so eye-catching that your whole outfit has to be about the sweater.

The sample is shown in Swans Island All-American Worsted, a stunning, soft, lofty worsted-weight woolen-spun yarn. It looks and feels incredible, and I strongly recommend it for this sweater. I used the color “Granite”.

It’s worked in pieces from the bottom up, and then seamed. (If you’re using a rustic yarn like Swans Island All-American Worsted – and I highly recommend that you do – be sure to have some smooth yarn on hand for seaming.) Edges are worked in 1×1 ribbing, and the lace detail is worked on the fronts only. The number of lace repeats your sweater pattern has will depend on both your size and your gauge – CustomFit will automatically adjust the number of lace repeats to be equal to the width of your neckline.

Sizing

Charlie’s Cardigan is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Amy in an “hourglass average fit” with an hourglass silhouette, but is available with a straight silhouette and other fits as well.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Charlie’s Cardigan pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. To keep the same look as the original, choose a light worsted yarn.
