Willowbrook

$12.50

The Willowbrook Pullover is a relaxed, easy to wear tunic that goes perfectly with your favorite skinny jeans. Willowbrook combines a no-fuss A-line shape with a generous turtleneck, long sleeves, and notched ribbing detail at the hem. Like many CustomFit patterns, Willowbrook is available in any silhouette, fit, and sleeve length combination you like. Shown in a tunic length, A-line silhouette and long sleeves here, Willowbrook looks smashing in your favorite drapey yarn.

I’ve shown it here worked in Fibre Company Acadia – a gorgeous tweedy blend of merino, baby alpaca, and silk. This yarn is soft as anything and feels glorious cozied up against your neck, and has a lovely fluid hand for an a-line silhouette.

Willowbrook can be made in any of CustomFit’s constructions, silhouettes and lengths, though – so you can make your own any way you like it. (Photo credit Gale Zucker, 2019. Model credit Maya J)

Sizing

The Willowbrook Pullover is available as a custom-gauge, custom-size pattern for the yarn and measurements of your choice via CustomFit. It’s shown here on Maya in a women’s average fit.

Willowbrook is also available in hourglass, straight, and tapered silhouettes, and set-in sleeve and drop-shoulder fits for men, women, and children.

Gauge

Your own customized version of the Willowbrook pattern will be written to your gauge, whatever it may be. Any weight yarn will work well with this design, and you should swatch in Stockinette stitch.

Materials

I used Fibre Company Acadia for this design, at a gauge of 22 stitches and 32 rows to 4” (10 cm). I used a US size 5 (3.75mm) needle to obtain this gauge, but your mileage may vary. Shown in “Cranberry”.

At this gauge, to make an a-line tunic as shown here, a standard size 30 (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)’’ / 76 (81.5, 86.5, 91.5, 96.5, 101.5, 106.5, 112, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm a-line tunic will use approximately 8 (8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 13, 13, 13, 14, 15, 17) hanks. (Straight-sided and shorter sweaters will use less yarn!)

For other yarns, CustomFit will give you a yardage estimate before you finalize a custom pattern, but you can also use Hannah Fettig’s Stashbot app or pamphlet to estimate yarn requirements when purchasing yarn.

Construction

The Willowbrook Pullover is worked in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed, with set-in or modified drop-shoulder sleeves.
